NPSA Safer Practice Notice No:14, 09 November 2006 Action Point 3b, indicates that photo identification cards are a sustainable and cost effective mean of identifying patients. They may be used as an alternative to wristbands by patients, for example, those who receive regular blood transfusions as outpatients or day cases.
Early pilots studies suggests that photo identification cards are very well received by patients, and preferable to wearing a wristband, and also promotes a feeling of involvement. |
